Optimization · Match Subset Optimizer

Choose which matches to keep in a complex prediction plan

When your plan contains too many matches, reducing the match set can be more useful than deleting individual cards. Match Subset Optimizer compares candidate sets for a target match count and a chosen strategy, so you can review what changes before applying a recommendation.

Open Permutify to use Match Subset Optimizer

Pro feature

Choosing which matches to keep when the plan is too wide.

Recommended match sets with measurable tradeoffs.

What Match Subset Optimizer does

Ranks the best match subset for a target count using strategies like maximum return, average return, floor, or safer balance.

Example: reduce eight matches to six

Use the football prediction combination calculator to calculate all prediction combinations before reducing the match set. Eight matches with three selected outcomes each create 6,561 combinations. Keeping six of those matches reduces the full set to 729. That reduction happens before card-level filters. Which two matches you remove still matters: their odds and outcome choices change the estimated return range and coverage of the remaining plan.

How to use Match Subset Optimizer

Open Permutify and find Match Subset Optimizer in Optimization.

  • Open Match Subset Optimizer.
  • Select the target number of matches and a strategy.
  • Apply the recommended set.

What to check before relying on the result

The best subset depends on the objective you choose. A set ranked highly for maximum return may differ from one ranked for a stronger return floor. Review the suggested matches and resulting cards without treating the recommendation as a forecast of match outcomes.

Does this remove matches or individual cards?

It recommends a subset of matches. Changing the match set changes the combinations that can be generated. Use Smart Card Eliminator when you want to keep the matches but remove particular generated cards.

Can I compare different selection strategies?

Yes. Choose a target match count and compare the available strategies, such as maximum return, average return, return floor, or safer balance, before applying a match set.
